Friendly Viking’s oat products are made by a Finnish family-owned company Juustoportti Ltd. Thanks to value-driven ownership, we have been able to cherish responsibility and friendliness for decades. For us, it’s a natural way to do things.

Over the past +50 years, Juustoportti has grown from a small dairy farm into a thriving, innovative business that produces and markets a great deal of several times awarded quality products – from dairy processing and cheese craftmanship to gluten-free oat products and more.

We are the Nordic folk who aren’t known as the feared Vikings. Why is that? Well, simply because we preferred to live in peace and enjoy life. We used our strength to cultivate the purest oats and to make good food, with a good heart.

Although Friendly Viking’s oat products are relatively modern products, their outlook on life dates back centuries ago. If you know the Viking Age, you will probably think of the wild conquerors and seafarers. But not all Nordic folks were like that.

Some people preferred to live in peace and enjoy life, and to cultivate the purest oats and to make good food, with a good heart. We inherited the friendly nature of those kind fellas.

So, things haven’t changed much since. Only the fact that nowadays everyone can enjoy the same quality and taste – now in the form of Friendly Viking’s oat products.

The 15th century, somewhere deep in the jungles of Central America. Seated on a mountain, with a view of his Kingdom, we find Montezuma — Monty for his friends — King of the Aztecs and unofficial Emperor of chocolate.

Meet conquistador Cortes, a man with grand plans of conquest. He was that impressed by the nectar that he decided to take the colorful beans home, across the ocean to Spain. But his countrymen, sweet tooths as they were, found nothing in the bitter broth. They added vanilla and sugar, left the strong herbs for what they were et voilà: du chocolat!

About half a dozen centuries later the search for the best chocolate has not yet come to an end. Or has it? In his laboratory located in the heart of Ghent doctor Van Laethem has been experimenting with gourmet chocolate for years. The apex for a doctor with chocolatier-aspirations? The creation of a chocolate bar where you sink your teeth into without having to feel guilty. Filled with love and the best of cocoa, minus the problems that lactose intolerance or gluten allergies involve. Divine!

At King Monty we’re committed to making 100% natural, vegan chocolate. Three important aspects are essential to us:

Creating mouth-watering chocolate is our ultimate goal, but only if we can minimise the impact on mother nature. We have just one planet and we have to cherish it. With this in mind, our principles are firmly based on sustainability and ecological awareness. It’s the least we can do for our planet!

Taste & Glory products are made from soya protein. Soya as a raw material has a lower impact on the environment than meat. To grow 1kg of soy requires approximately 35-40% less water than 1kg of pig meat (70% less water than beef). Our soya is sustainably sourced from approved quality suppliers.

Taste & Glory products are produced in England at sites that are actively reducing their Energy, Carbon, Water and waste impact. The products are produced at a site which uses 100% renewable electricity and that has zero waste to Landfill.

The soy used in our products is GMO free and is 100% no deforestation verified. Our business has a clear supplier code of conduct that sets out the standards for our suppliers. We are also members of SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) and this shared platform to help ensure good practice among our supply base.
